I AM

I am a poem still unwritten,

a song left unsung;

I am a thousand and two smiles left unsmiled

and a million things left undone;

I am loneliness incognito

and blue is my middle name;

I am a snow drift on a cold winter’s night,

in the spring, I am the rain;

I am all the things you wished you’d said

as the moment passed you by;

I am the happiness that eludes you, still,

and I’m the reason why.
