I Am
I am from words
I am from ink spilled across endless pages
I am fiction and fantasy
Romance and crime
I am from falling for imaginary characters
And unreasonably high standards
I am from Hogwarts and Panem
From dog eared and tear stained pages
I am from fancy vibrant cover art
With intriguing titles
From beaches lapped by icy crystal waves
From a small town
Where everyone knows everyone
I am from the land of the free and brave
From the golden state
I am from loving parents
And warm childhood memories
But as always there are two sides to a coin
I am also from depression and anxiety
From panic attacks that steal the breath from my lungs
And from scars I gave myself
From “your fine”
And “the world is not all about you”
From skipping meals
And the need to please
I am from being scared of the word no
From feeling too much and nothing at all
From tears at night to emotions being taken out on myself
I am from a story that is not yet done
I am me
