I AM

I am from a relaxing and peaceful place.

From the sound of my favorite music playing all day.

From a room filled with my accomplishments and posters of my favorite bands.

From feeling lazy, comfortable, and relaxed on my bed, day or night.

I am from the town that is known for its odor of cows and grass.

From the sight of clean yards and palm trees in every direction.

From the sound of children cherishing their lives and having fun.

From feeling the hot sun, the cold breeze, and the pouring rain.

I am from a community that lives in a dessert.

From a valley that aspires to be a big city that people want to go to.

From an environment that is nice but can change.

From a valley with a sun that is always on me and everyone else.

I am from a country that gives you opportunity but you have to take.

From a land where you have rights as a citizen.

From a country that many people try to get to live their dream.

From land that was won by a revolution and became something on its own.

I am from a Mexican family in El Centro.

From a family that values every moment that they spend together.

From ancestors who worked hard in Mexico and took the chance to come to America.

From a family that taught me life and to make the right decisions for my future.

I am from the valley from which I want to leave for college.

From seeing a vision of making my parents proud.

From having a future where I have my dream job.

From a vision of me having the time of my life.
