I Am

I am the sweat and the pads

I wonder how many times I will get hit

I hear the ding that says my time is over

I see threw the salty water in my eyes

I want so badly to see the end coming for me

I am the sweat and the pads

I pretend to see through the eyes of my instructor

I feel the hurt everyone I hit feels

I touch the hearts of younger ranks in class

I worry that I might not pass to the rank

I cry the tears of pain when I get hit in the mouth

I am the sweat and the pads

I understand I have to give everything or nothing

I say it only gets better in the long run

I dream I will reach the goal many have

I try to do everything to impress the people who hold my future in their hands

I hope that they will see the hope in me and how I long to be in the top

I am the sweat and the pads
