I AM

Location

I am a speaker, an advocate.

I wonder if my nerves will get the best of me.

I hear a trumpet in the distance, proclaiming my victory.

I see the hand reaching out to me.

I am a professional.

I am talking to the jury.

I am to empower the victims.

I touch families souls as I talk.

I worry that if I do not speak, no one will.

I cry when the final bell tolls.

I am the law.

We cannot cease them all,

we are the truth, protecting youth.

I dream of a day with no manipulation.

I am the voice, of the weak, of the tortured.

One that can only dream of the freedom to be.

I am not wasting my time, nor yours.

I am a detective with SVU
