I Am
I am the light
That overcomes the darkness within the depths of our souls.
I wonder
What life would be like if there was always light at every corner.
I hear the doubts within our faith.
I see the fear in one’s eyes which happen s to have tears,
But why?
Is it life that makes you cry?
Or is it that you prefer to die?
I want to be able to look at the sky
and realize that we were all meant to be unified.
You never see the sky go its separate way from the stars.
I pretend I am the key to happiness,
The solution to every problem,
And the napkin to every tear shed.
I feel lost within the light I try to shine,
Not realizing I have no light.
So is that it?
Am I done?
Am I the darkness?
I touch nothing because I am nothing
No, I touch life and it rejects me.
I worry that one day this will end without warning.
I cry knowing that there’s no solution,
Was there ever a problem?
But now I understand that without darkness there is no light.
And without a problem there is no solution.
Without tears there is no concept of understanding that we have overcome
The obstacles that life throws at us.
We do not understand
that our challenges define who we are and allow us to go beyond limitations
I say continue to live,
But embrace the fear of not knowing what tomorrow will bring.
I dream that lights would be off
So we could shine ourselves without the false encouragement of others.
I hope that love
Is what preserves light within ones soul
So, I am the light
That falsely accuses the darkness
Of weakening our souls into consuming fears
That makes me forget
Who I really am.
