I am
I am awesome
Like my mother
Like my grandmother
Like all the women and men who have come before me
Going through the days
struggling and trying to keep their world together
Constantly told No
Constanly told "You're not capable of doing this or that.."
How about some positivity in my life?
I find myself awesome
Because....
After many moments
where I felt :
like giving up
like I never was good enough
Like I never fit the idealistic standard of a teenage girl
Like I never was normal because of scars
Like I never was a teenager because I had to grow up too fast
Like I never was the problem
I finally feel awesome
Yeah I go through things
I smile to hide the pain
I smile to make everyone who doubted me see that they're not stopping me
I smile for my family to see that I'm okay
But For once I smile for....
me
For once I feel awesome
For once I feel beautiful
For once I feel happy to step outside my room
For once I shut the media off and tell myself
"I am beautiful regardless of what they say"
For once I look at these scars and see
that I've come a long way
see I treated myself like I caused all the pain
I hated myself
I hated every detail about me
I lost touch with everything
I lost
myself
I didn't see that
people go through things in life
so they can become stronger
Looking at the mirror
looking at the girl I became so unfamiliar with
I see that I am strong
I am capable
I came a long way
I am awesome
You are awesome
We are all freaking awesome
And these negative things in life
come and go
So please look at yourself
Smile
Laugh
Cry even
But notice
You have this one life
one body
one face
one heart
one soul
learn to love it
you are beautiful
you can do so much more than what they say
you can be who you want to be
you can love whoever you want to love
And if you feel like no one else loves you
I love you
and I'm rooting for you
I am awesome
We are awesome
You are awesome
and no one can let us down.
