"I Am From"

I am from Howard and Christine From Morgan Valley Forge in Iowa From pine trees in back and apple trees out front I am from ancient fighting mentality From hard workers and true freedom fighters I am from the tools of war that carry the spirit of my past From strong love for family I am from “the first rule is don’t panic,” “do what’s right” and “try your best” I am from honesty and respect, caring and love From listening to others and helping them through rough times I am from steak lovers, soaked in soy sauce and grilled From spring meal of Fresh Fried Fish, Asparagus, and Fried Morel Mushrooms I am from “the first smartass don’t stand a chance” From determination and persevere till success I am from reading good books, book lovers, and fiction readers From listening to Bon Jovi and Alan Parsons Project I am from being unique and not having a real job From do what you want and enjoy it I am from blue jeans a t-shirt and disappearing into imagination From sitting alone deep in thought A collection of thoughts thrown together and hammered into what I am
