I know that

Even when the days are long,

or when the sky is too gray,

I know,

That even though the world may be a large,

Scary place,

where people are pessimistic,

striving to ruin others,

I know,

That I am who I am because of the world I am in.

I’m overly caring,

even to people who may not deserve it,

I make sure that everyone around me is happy,

before I am.

I would rather be around people,

That others may say,

“they’re weird”

“they don’t look like someone you would hang out with”

because, I feel that until you get to know someone,

they should never,

Ever,

be judged on their appearance,

or maybe they like Pokemon,

Or watch My Little Pony,

Because that is what makes someone who they are!

People think they have to be a certain way for society,

But I strive for the different,

the oddities

the eclectic assortment that life has to offer.

But even though I try my hardest,

To make each day better than the last,

I always have this nagging fear in the back of my head,

The fear of being alone,

Not having someone to go to,

Whether it is physically, verbally or mentally.

Sometimes,

Even in the more crowded of rooms,

I feel completely.

Utterly.

Defenselessly.

Alone.

Or i can feel the complete opposite,

I become overwhelmed,

I feel like everyone is crowding me,

Trying to make me who I am not.

Maybe who I am,

Isn’t who they want me to be,

Maybe,

It’s not who I want to be.

But I know,

With my head held high,

And my thoughts kept clean of the drag

that sometimes life likes to put on us,

With the sadness,

Doubt.

Regret.

I know that I can be,

Exactly,

Who I want to be,

Me.
