I am From

I am from Family and “I love you Mama”.  Dysfunctional, crazy, loving family is who we are. From pleasant enjoyable Sunday dinners to screwing down doors. The Dorvilier family is where I am from.

Where I’m from the spices are exotic and sensationally flavored. I am from the Caribbean, where we ring in the New Year with hot pumpkin soup. Ginger tea, hot chocolate or Christmas day cremas too. I am from where the sun blazes hot in the daytime sky, but cool breeze surrounds us at nighttime.

I am from the steel drums and guitars during carnival. Hot rum, Hot rum, and island blues. I am a curved stone carved into the reefs, white waves splashing against the rocks. Haiti is my country this is true, I bleed red and blue.

I am from a nation of strong war warriors, who fought endlessly for our liberty. The islands are many, but the people, we unite as one!
