I am

I am

So close to God am I that I share the same name;

I Am, says he; Author of the Universe!

I am, says I; Knowing nothing else.  I am.  I am.

In this darkness I wait for thee, says He!

In this darkness I also wait, says I.  I am.

Patience, says He!  The birth of light is yours soon!

I am, I cry and Angels soothe me in my dark pool.  I am.

I have special joys for you, says He!

I am, I cry and sense the presence of another.  I am.

I am, says He and the other is not for you!

I am in pain!  Says I,  the other tears my asunder!

I am here my child.  I am here, says he.

I am!  I am!  I scream, I am!  The other does not hear.

I am here my child!  I am here, says He!

I am!  I am!
