I am

I am flawed.

I look in the mirror and see
lumps and bumps that I wish weren't there
that society has told Me shouldn't be there
see My not-pale-enough skin with spots all over
lean forward to look closer
poke and prod
but why shouldn't I
why should I try to cover and hide them
with makeup and expensive spanx
I need only impress
Myself.

I see My gpa My sat score
it can't be too low but also not too high
too low and I won't get anywhere in life
too high and all of the boys will be scared off
all My life I have been defined by numbers
it's time to define Me by Me
only I have the right to judge Myself
not society's expectations not arbitrary numbers designed to
"determine My intelligence."

I define Myself.
I am perfect.
I am.
