I Am From

I am from the windy city,

From moving to Kohler,

From a brick house with a big front porch,

and a big yard that always needs to have perfect green grass.

I am from always being outside,

From playing sports,

From being up north at the cabin,

and always being by the lake.

I am from my relatives in Chicago,

From my Grandpa’s sayings,

From the dance parties with my cousins,

and always playing card games.

I am from the scent of cleaning products,

From always dusting, vacuuming, and mopping,

From needing to count everything,

and the famous ‘sock drawer’.

But most importantly,

I am from joy, laughter, and hope,

From family and friends,

From family get togethers on holidays,

and from never ending love.
