I am From
I am from
watching Baby Einstein,
my bunny and green blanket,
and crawling out of my crib.
I am from
the sound of snowplows waking me up at the crack of dawn,
to colorful leaves falling everywhere,
to tulips blooming,
to the sound of the trampoline and late night bon fires.
I am from
my parents old stories,
being repeated over and over again,
my Polish grandmothers home,
eating Portillos and
sneaking cookies out of the cookie jar.
I am from
my two best friends,
golden retrievers,
riding on their backs
and playing catch with a slimy tennis ball.
I am from
the sound of the basketball bouncing
and the swish of the net,
playing PIG with my brother and dad.
I am from “don’t do this”,
and “don’t touch that”,
but at the end of the day
A loving family is where I’m from.
