I Am
I was hollow,
crafted to be a coffin for my soul.
To gain the title of a "man" they demanded I pay a toll.
Considered weak to have a heart so I gave up my heartbeat.
Given a bottle for emotions, told "express them hardly,
ever, promptly never.
Close the lid if you are clever.
For every tear in your eyes,
we'll have you eaten alive."
Terrorized, I gave in to their suggestions.
Zombified, I awaited resurrection.
I was lost,
with myself, had no connection.
became a product of suppression, only casting misconceptions.
The epitome of emptiness, nothing in the pit of me.
Just another lost soul, searching for solidity.
The ability to be judged, served as a restriction.
On my life, it always seemed as if I had no jurisdiction.
Raised to listen, but never did I try it on myself.
Stopped and listened to my soul and inside I found wealth.
I am caring,
I am kind,
I am morally inclined
I am strong
I am bold
I am more than can be told
I AM FOUND.
