I am

I am…. skeptical

I wasn’t always this way

It didn’t happen overnight

It was a long, tiring journey

I didn’t understand

Why certain things happen the way they do

Or why bad things happen to good people

Or why good things happen to bad people

I was trusting

I trusted people

I trusted the words which people would say

I trusted the promises they made

I trusted them until they broke me

Until I felt as though I could never trust again

I was naïve

But now, I am skeptical
