I Am.........

I Am…….

Amber

Just like the sap, I captivate you

Capture you

with my words,

my thoughts,

maybe even my smile

My essence makes you wanna sit down

and converse with me for a while

When you hear the wondrous sounds that come from my lips,

they take you on trips

Trips to lands

with turquoise water

and pure white sands

The same sand on which my ancestors walked

In the country of Jamaica

when you hear me spit these powerful words

from sleep they will wake ya

I’m Strong

Like the roots of an oak

that are 10 miles long

Let me sing my song

From the mountain top

I won’t stop

From the classroom

My words are like a broom

that sweeps away the lies

the deceit

make you realize

what’s real

what’s true

I’ll open your eyes to something brand new

I’m a muse

My views

may seem peculiar

Most people say

I look familiar

Like I’ve been here before

Heads turn when I walk through the door

I can’t stand looking back

I love to look ahead

I make sure I talk to the good Lord

Before I lay down in my bed

Hopefully one day

all my dreams will come true

I’ve experienced many trials

But soon

I’ll come through
