I Am

I am a flower waiting to bloom I wonder when the sun will shine I know the clouds are slowly parting I see the sun's rays peaking out I want to be so very colorful I am a flower waiting to bloom I stretch my stalk towards the sky I feel the rain nurturing me I dance in the wind around me I worry the clouds will not leave before winter comes I cry when the grass around me is cut I am a flower waiting to bloom I understand winter won't come for months I say I have to bloom sooner or later I dream of all the petals I'll have I try to open my bud I hope the sun will soon shine For I am a flower waiting to bloom
