I AM ....

I am - Who do you see?

Who you see when you look at me?

Do you see the girl with a great future?

Or the girl who has been through hell.

Do you see the captain of a cheerleader team?

Or the girl who could not get a hello if she paid you.

Do you see the valedictorian of the school?

Or the girl who was raped when she was five.

Do you see the MVP of the year?

Or the girl who promised herself that she would always take care of her son no matter what happens.

When you look at me who do you see?

a doctor, a lawyer, a teacher or the next person on COPs.

I can tell you what I see.

I see someone who might have pain in their life but knows how to deal with pain.

I see a person's hopes, feelings, and dreams.

So I ask again what do  you see when you look at me?

Do you see me as an abstraction?

Or do you see me as a hero.

Am I the same as everyone else?

Do I need to look and act like them?

Does my past affect my future?

Can you see all that I have been though?

Who do you see when you look at me?
