I AM

It is hard for me to give a comprehensive proclamation of who I am, for my identity unfolds more every day as my experiences grow. Since I am only 17 years young, life has a lot of unfolding to do. I have been known to me messy and loud, sometimes uncoordinated. I inadvertently neglect to check my blood sugar and occasionally skip an antidepressant or neuropathy pill, sometimes even doses of insulin through shots. I know I should do these chores because my health is definitely a top priority, but I can be scatterbrained at times. my mind processes everything at a mile a minute, making it hard for me to focus solely on one thing unless I am engaged in conversation, don't judge me church lady.

For those who know me, friends and family, I am creative. I am constantly thinking of new drawings and paintings to be made and jot them down whenever they come to me, occasionally making quick sketches to reference later. Art is my escape and release from the real world. I am able to loose myself in my own little world when the real world has paid my life no heed and has made me feel unvalued and denounced. I have found peace and experience immense exuberance through creating drawings and scribbles and paintings, but nothing makes me more elated than having those creations appreciated by others.

It is fascinating to me how others ingeniously perceive art. connecting different pieces to situations and circumstances they have lived through as individuals or connect the images to the life of others life. Through art i am able to feel more connected to the world, i feel that art is able to speak to people on both an intellectual and emotional level. art holds feeling and emotion. happiness and sorrow. all of the aspects that make us human all of the similarities and differences are felt with the strokes of a paintbrush and seen in the finished masterpiece. Creativity and art allow you to be young at heart when we become naturally transparent to others through our own curiosity and excitement each day. we remain young at heart when we exchange stories and pictures and ideas. when we share ourselves in joy and laughter, and adolescent charm to love and bless the souls of those around us in a illustrious way, beaming outward with a loveable spirit of benevolence.

People say I’m such a “nerd for art” and that one day, I’m going to do something amazing with my art. Well, it’s true I am a huge nerd for art i literally fangirl over how many different shades of red are now included in the freaking two dollar crayola watercolor paint pallet intended for first graders. Seriously, I wish there was that many shades of red in my paint pallets back then so i didn't have to mix colors, these hellions today will never know the struggle. Someday II do hope to do something amazing with my art, that something being becoming an art therapist and helping those who struggle to help themselves.
