I Am Acceptive

When I questioned our existence,

The belief of a supernatural being,

I felt ridiculous, to deny what I was taught.

Then, after deeper thinking, I felt fear.

I felt fear, yet strength,

To stand up against what most cherish.

Still, I smile and love.

During my journey in Japan,

I've had what some may call a culture shock.

I was exposed to many things, inside and out.

I ventured out into the aspects of traditions,

I looked at life differently, with a broader view,

And see that the world is much bigger than my front door.

Still, I smile and love.

As the old saying goes,

"You'll never know how much you'll miss someone until they're gone."

Someone you love can be taken away from you in an instant,

And you're left in despair, guilt, and sorrow.

I realize that family is a gift to us all,

That shouldn't be treated as drek, but as royalty.

Still, I smile and love.

Out of fear of questioning beliefs,

Through my journey of seeing a different world,

During the struggle of saying goodbye,

I find life being this strange, living clock,

That will surprise you at any given moment.

Still, I smile and love.
