I Am Alive

I cannot see, I have been blinded by the lights of society

telling me what is right from wrong

when I always wanted to go left

I can feel who I am deep within me

I am still alive

Life has tossed me around numerous times

Throws me into the darkness

I manage to get back up

Something deep within me tells me to never give up

I am turning left and right not knowing where I am

I see a small light ahead of me

As I follow it

It disappeared

It's dark

The light is guiding me

Helping me find myself

I grow closer to the light

Oh

I slam against a brick wall

Not being able to see it

It was invincible

Darkness. It's dark.

The wall stopped me from growing and walking passed the light

I surpass the darkness with bumps and bruises

Physically and mentally

I look back

Darkness

I look forward

Brightness.

I am still alive

I am not the person that I was before

Darkness was not who I was

I cannot go back

Life has tossed me around

I was rooted to the ground fighting to detach

And for a second

An immense light hit me

I cannot move

I am blinded-- I close my eyes

The light went blank

Quiet

Total bliss

I open my eyes

My roots are detached from the ground

I am lighter

I am free

Never turning around

I have accepted my darkness

Now I see radiating light

This light is me

I am the light to my life
