I Am American, and...

I'm an American, and..

je suis Quebecoise.

I am also from the oak tree

I'm an acorn of Deschenes.

I'm a die-hard Celtics fan,

I'm a leprechaun, too.

I'm from fire and water,

the Blizzard and the groundhog.

I'm from the sand and snow of New England,

my grandfather's red shag carpet,

the grass and gravel of the Common

and the hollow wood floor of the gym.

I'm from Poland, saying, "Kocham Ciebie."

I'm from a long line of telling stories

like duck-on-a-rock

and the sighting of the black-crowned night heron.

I'm from nailing and hammering in my hometown,

and sailing ships around the world.

I'm from laughing about

whispered words like "Sprinkles" and "Flip-flops".

From looking for hours

for a precious four-leaf clover.

I am Olivia

and my story is yet to be completed.
