I am a young woman newly hatched into this world,

discovering life as it were

and deciding what it can be.

Learning how to speak well, articulate,

use my words and mean everything I say.

Trying everyday to think before I speak.

Breathing in the air through my lungs to

launch my truth out, when necessary.

Speaking honestly with sweet words to my love.

Whispering in his ear, taking every chance to embrace him and

always expressing my appreciation for his love.

Yapping along with the hens, telling stories with giant gestures and

listening with wide, interested eyes.

My lips constantly stretched to produce my roar of laughter,

which tickles my soul and revives my

still growing heart.

I strut around with confidence and

remind myself that I do not have to stay cooped up

in a cage like some may decide to do.

I can create the life that I want.

I shake off the turmoil of the past and step into a new light everyday.

I appreciate my flaws, each misplaced feather,

and work toward embracing them all fully.

The mistakes I make are just lessons that I learn from

and my accomplishments, no matter how small, are always celebrated.
