I Am Blessed
i am...blessed
"explain that answer," one might continue.
there is no other word that can say what this word can.
it is the epitome of what someone like me aspires to be.
in every area of my life i strive for greatness, yet
i know that even if i were to somehow reach my destination,
it would not have been by my own dexterity,
but by this word...blessed.
"by who?" one might ask.
"by Him," i would answer pointing upward.
throughout the course of my life, i have realized more and more
that i did not achieve anything, win anything, DO anything on my own.
"what did he do?" one might continue.
for it was "Him" who carried me along even after my countless attempts to jump out of His arms and run.
it is easy for one to define himself in a way that exalts his own spirit with affirmative attributes,
but i could not stand to tell someone of a version of myself that lacks the key component of my life.
whatever accomplishments i have gained, i deserve to lose if i do not realize that they were granted.
and every award, recognition, good word or performance, and position of power is only an illustration of those grants...
"how do you describe yourself?" one might ask.
i am...blessed
