I Am Change

I am Bismarck Saenz

I am a poor kid

I am a poor kid from a poor family

I am a poor kid from a prom family who lives in a poor community

I am the one to change my city

I am one of few who clawed their way through the abyss

I am not supposed to be where I am

I was not supposed to graduate high school with honors

I am not supposed to be succeeding in Community College

I am not supposed to be on the verge of transferring to a four-year

At least not where I'm from

I was supposed to be a high school dropout

At 17, I was supposed to be in juvenile hall, not receiving awards from top city officials

I was supposed to be a drug dealer, not a youth leader

I was supposed to be another crime statistic

I am already a success

I have already overcome all odds

I am on a mission to radically change my city

To better the odds of success for future generations

To better the living conditions of those here

To provide economic opportunities for all

I am here to level the playing field

I am a 20 year old kid who has begun the change he wants to see

I am unstoppable

I am infinite

I am change
