I am A Copy of A Man

I am a copy of a man

I thought I never knew

Daydreaming and fantasizing

about a daddy I wished were true

Full of question and disillusion

never answered

just abjured

Trying to fill the void

by any means necessary

A quiet girl

I grew to be

Obedient to the "T"

But as the years passed by

no questions answered

I tried to move on

hoping to forget

but needing a piece to fit

The email I'll never forget

acknowledging the growing fear

of who my true father was

A horrible thing I'd hear

Hatred flowed from me

but not to her

for I learned her awful truth

of a childhood in fear

He may be my blood

but never my family

A wretched man

praying on family

I may have your initials

I may have your nose

Things I hate

but I never chose

All that I am of you

is a constant reminder

to always be strong

for I couldn't have been blinder

All my mothers flaws

passed onto me

are no longer flaws

but reminders of thee

The innocence you took

not only in her

Fuels my fire

to move on from that blur

The truth of the person

I thought I knew

I am a copy of a man

that ruined a woman

but that woman

never once phased you
