I Am the Doll in the Corner
I am the doll in the corner
I wonder just how long ago I was put on this high shelf
I hear the sounds they make, the toys from down below
I see the dust settle all around me
I know they're unaware that i'm abandoned somewhere unreachable
I am the Doll in the corner
I pretend i'm not alone, like there's more up here
I feel the longing to not be forgotten
I touch the wood plank that keeps me trapped, for who knows how much it's aged
I worry i'll never leave this corner
I cry to feel the release of the thought of being lost
I am the Doll in the Corner
I understand their excitement for being free down there
I say i'll leave this shelf someday, and
I dream and dream of finding my way down
I try to keep a straight face, but sometimes its way too hard
I hope someday will be different and that I wont be who I am because
I am the Doll in the corner
