I am empowered by my past.
I am a woman empowered by my past
It starting to seem so unfair
This world has thrown me this way and that
It's like life play it's own cruel game of truth or dare.
I was born into a broken home
A story to many know to well
I used to feel so alone
My parents were divorced by the time I was a 6 year old rebel
Seeing mommy drinking her life away until I was sixteen
Because daddy got locked up for carrying to much weed
But if they knew the secret of what happened the other night...
Prison bound before the cops could catch up.
And my boyfriend would have been 6ft under.
Around 19 I thought I fell in love.
My heart was a flutter
I moved away from mom and dad
To spread my wings by I did more than that.
This kid that told me he loved me and I were about to be teen parents.
Life was good I was going to be a mom.
Hitting full term 8 1/2 months pregnant I got some news.
"Your son is dead"
Just like that I fell to floor.
Nothing could prepare me for the months ahead.
I heard my phone ringing I couldn't answer though
"I'm driving down the road"
"One glance won't hurt you got to see whose calling"
Look back up I'm in the other lane
I swerve to the right over corrected
I swerve to left again to much 180 across the road hit the curb 180 in the air.
"Help!" I yelled, "Anyone there? I'm stuck. "
I have been blessed.
No my stories not over no that's not all but those have help create me.
You see
I am a woman of faith and intellect
I am a child of struggle and pain
I am a bereathed mother of a angel in heaven
I am a human being who has struggled, lost hope, been abused and beaten, bullied, chew up and spit out,
I am a child who was told I would never amount to anything.
Most of all I am a woman making myself into something greater,
I am a woman who can be proud and say yeah I have been through a lot but it has only made me stronger.
I am a future Neurosurgon. I am a Biology Major
And I am empower by my past.
