I am enough
Dear Confidence,
Where have you been? I have not seen you in a while. I used to have you around all the time but then things got harder and I lost you. When I was younger, I never compared myself to others and you were always there. But, as I got older I started saying things to myself like, "he is smarter than me", or "he is more popular than me" and then I started seeing you less often. You see, you were instilled in me by my parents and I didn't even realize you were something I could lose. But, as I have aged, I have opened my eyes to all the things around me and I see that there are people that are smarter, funnier, richer, better looking, etc. and that has caused you to stray. I really liked having you around and I miss those carefree days when you were always there. You were such a good friend to me and I wonder how I can get you back. How about if I start by thinking about the things that made you want to be around me and do those things? I will remind myself that God made me to be me and that is enough. I am enough. Even when times get tough and I feel inadequate, I am enough. Even when things do not go the way I planned, I am enough. I will keep working to be the best version of me that I can be, and then you and I will meet again.
