I am amongst those who spent countless hours staring at a reflection, 

Beating down and self degrading every aspect of their own complexion.

Hating all the red pimples etched along the canvas of my face,

And the stretch marks on my stomach, wishing to remove any trace. 

 

I am amongst those who have heard the roar of their empty stomach,

Slowly burning inside as it solely begins to plummet. 

I’ve counted days of such fatal starvations, 

Believing that those extremes would be my only salvation. 

 

I am amongst those who have despised every aspect of themselves,

Having attempted other alternatives as well. 

I’ve sought unhealthiest of ways of trying fix my image, 

I drowned myself in what I though was beauty and had a fatal slippage. 

 

I am now amongst those who have found the true meaning of beauty,

And I am here to spread the secret for, it is my duty.

 

Society does not get to set the standards of what is considered flawless.

Flawless are those who value and understand their own self worth.

We are all worthy of being beautiful and flawless,

And we all need to recognize that and look past it. 

 Look past all the crooked smiles, curvy hips, bumpy skin, hair texture, and more. 

 

I am flawless. 

I am flawless despite the red dots scattered along my face.

I am flawless despite being overweight.

I am flawless despite having to wear glasses.

I am flawless despite being told I’m not. 

 

I am flawless because I am a strong warrior.

I am flawless because I decided to keep my life.

I am flawless because I can contribute to the world.

I am flawless because I am an intelligent lady. 

I am flawless because I can finally look at a mirror without being repulsed. 

I am flawless because I love myself.
