I am Free

I am free

After years of enslavement

After years of racism

After years of prejudice

I am free

The lives' of the people before me

Tell a story of resilience and perseverance

That I can not begin to fathom

I am free

Because of all of the people who

Fought for my rights

That were endowed to me

I am free

To love who I want

Learn what I want

And be who I want

I am free

And I will never forget

The ones who are not here with me now

I owe it all to them
