I am glad

I am glad I live in a world where there are oceans

We watch them rise and fall

We listen to them crash and churn

No ocean is completely at peace

Never still

They are choppy

               unpredictable

               changing

But we are drawn to the ocean anyway

We long to know what it holds

How it compares to the earth

When really, the earth could never compare

The simultaneous calm and fear

The awe and adrenaline

Are inspiring I think

To those who are also choppy and changing

Because no one expects the ocean to always remain the same

No,

We celebrate its intensity
