I AM HERE
I am here because of luck.
The random drawing of the lucky numbers of a certain brave man,
With faith in his God for a better tomorrow for himself and his children.
I am here because of perseverance.
The persistence of one bold man,
To willingly get on a foreign object, feel its convulsion through the air and its quivering landing,
Emerging and experiencing an environment different from his own.
An environment thousands of miles from home,
An environment where ice (so scarce in his homeland) fell to the filthy ground,
An environment whose culture differs from his greatly.
I am here because of unselfishness.
Due to the hard work of one man,
Through his work ethic at McDonalds, making minimum wage
Through his ability to give himself, sacrificing for children whom he is biologically tied to but has developed no sentimental feelings for.
I am here in the United States of America, the land of opportunity, because of my father.
A man who gambled his former life, left the comfort of his homeland for an exotic world, and stopped pursuing higher education so that I could have that opportunity.
I am here to accomplish what he gave up,
And to ensure that one day when I have children of my own, I can give them what he provided, The bravery, perseverance, sacrifices and love for others.
I am here to stop taking and start giving.
