I Am Here

Dear Ella-Rose,

Life is new for you;

I try to be a veteran.

You know nothing of the regulations

Where I have already found them.

You are trapped in a system,

Away from everyone who loves you,

And I want to know you,

So bad it hurts to

Put this into words or

Give this any advice

On how to make it better.

But I will try through all this pain

To give you who I am in a page

So you can understand.

I am socially middle class

And I can’t help but be sad

Most times in this world

But when I think of you better

Than where you are now,

It makes me feel as though, somehow,

I am ok with you as best as you can be

Even if it is not with me.

I barely know you.

The whole world barely knows too.

I will try to be there,

Even if I am this far.

I can’t wait for you to be able to write.

I feel as though I might

Cry if I ever get a letter from you,

From the happiness in my heart.

I hope you can read this.

I hope you can keep receiving these.

I want you to have it better.

I want you to know I care.

Most importantly,

I want you to know I will always be here.

Call, and I will be there.

Sincerely, with love,

Brianna
