I Am Here

Home, it never really was a home,

Yelling and fights drove me away in time,

For years, I was scared to leave

So terrified to be alone.

Where would I go?

I’d end up in a car, on the street,

A lost, lonely soul.

I remember the hurtful words and the constant pain,

It lingers on my skin.

Family was never really family,

So many lies, deceit; sin.

I made a decision for myself,

To find a better life.

I deserve more than that,

I remember the fear cutting me like a knife.

I left and never turned back a few months ago,

And although my life is in limbo,

I’m not afraid,

Cause I believe,

I’ll always land on my feet.

I am out on my own,

No place to really call a home.

It’s hard to overcome your fears,

But I have discovered my inner strength.

I am alive.

I am here.
