I Am Hope
In a world of darkness
Heartache and pain
I write
Because that's my only escape
From harsh realities
And struggles of life
From commercials depicting
Hunger and strife
I write so the world knows
There is still hope
That not all teens
Are dropping out and selling dope
I write because
Life is not all that it seems
And to remind myself that there are those less fortunate than me
I write because maybe then I can pretend
That in this world of false luxury
No one is suffering
I write because someday I wish to speak internationally
On the value of privacy and how to eradicate poverty
I write because spoken words dissipate in air
But on paper
My most passionate, powerful writings
Will forever be there
