I Am Human
I am eccentric
I walk to the beat of my own drum,
Writing my own story that's only begun
I am eccentric
I am
I am an artist
I can paint you a portrait or write you a song,
Art brings us together where we belong
I am an artist
I am
I am intelligent
I can calculate difficult a summation,
Or give you rich history in detailed explanation
I am intelligent
I am
This is what you see when you look only as deep as my skin,
But if you peer further you will see what is within
I am anxious,
I never know what to do or to say,
Sometimes it's hard to make it through the day
I am anxious
I am
I am a crier
I cry for those I love and even strangers,
Cry for all their hardships and dangers
I am a crier
I am
I am scared
I fear what the future may or may not hold,
Worry about things yet to be told
I am scared
I am
For you may think these shortcomings make me weak,
But there is even more about me that will make them oblique
I am a survivor
I was sexually assaulted when I was fifteen,
But I never let that ruin me
I am a survivor
I am
I am a fighter
I stand up for what I believe,
Creating a better future for you and me
I am a fighter
I am
I am resilient
I never give up and never back down,
Getting myself back up when thrown to the ground
I am resilient
I am
All of these pieces assembled beautifully,
They may be imperfect but they are still parts of me
I am human
I may falter and stumble,
But I keep going and stay humble
I am human
I am
