I Am Human

You say I will be nothing without a family

You tell me my entire future as if you know it any better than I do

You make me feel like I am not in control

You say my gender is "too emotional," yet you fail to realize your anger is also an emotion

You tell me women are terrible at commanding as if there have been no successful women leaders

You make me feel powerless

You say my one job is to make men happy

You tell me to smile, it'll make me look better

You make me feel like an object

Listen to me.

I am not an object

I am not a plaything

I am a human being

I deserve your rights and freedoms

I deserve not to feel violated in my own body

I deserve to have any position based on how well I could do it...not based on my gender

Because I am human

I am human
