I Am Just Me
If you look into my eyes,
What will you see?
A nerd?
A goth?
A beautiful prom queen?
None of those sound right,
At least not to me,
But maybe I'm wrong,
Perhaps there's something I can't see.
Shy, depressing, brat, annoying,
The list goes on and on,
There has never been a consensus,
Am I obnoxious or a yawn?
I've never known all the answers,
Or flirted with all the guys,
I've never skipped class for a joint,
Or worn all black as a disguise.
I've never shaken pom-poms,
Or dribbled a ball,
Won a science fair,
Or skateboarded down the hall.
But does it really matter?
In four years we'll be done,
Starting our own lives,
Who cares how many games we've won?
So let me tell you the answer,
To the big mystery,
I am not a label,
I am just me.
