I Am the Lessons I Am Learning.
I dreamt of fairy tales, even through high school.
I fantasized the impossible, the lesson learned was too cruel.
I experienced the highs and lows,
kicked myself one too many times over the things i chose.
I gave in to the moments that made me weak;
I welcome the odd ideas that make me unique.
My confidence is easy to shatter;
send me sharp words by tongue
and i convince myself I do not matter.
I am found in the corner, apart from the crowd.
When the cameras start rolling, I search for an escape.
I dream of ways to make my parents proud,
but not conform to this generations skewed scape.
I long for the day to see my name in a store,
to touch a life and show they are not alone.
someday, create a world to explore
while leaving an imprint after I am gone.
