I am... Light

Light is the smile on my face The twinkle in my eye The laugh that echoes through the house The helping hand I lend Darkness is the doubt The fear of failing The cruel thoughts and feelings The verbal assaults on the ones I love I want my light to be love In thoughts I hold In words I give In deeds I do I want my darkness to fade To leave my very being To be over taken by my light To be forgotten To have both light and darkness Is to choose which one to feed For one cannot be fed Without starving the other Luckily for us all The battle between light and darkness Is fought day by day By choosing one once more than the other Today I will unfortunately Choose darkness a hundred times But fortunately I will choose light a hundred and one times So who am I? I am light with dark spots But light nonetheless Because light shines brighter
