I am Love by Ebony Hill

Has love ever been able to be defined?

It sure belongs in the dictionary and readying its meaning should take some time

Do you acquire love from the pureness in one’s heart?

Or do you feel like it comes from false physical connections that can set you apart

As a kid did I really know what love is?

Did I grow into it finding it out? Because love had always seemed absent,  hid

Why did I used to seem loveless?

Maybe because I couldn’t define it, not even on a vocabulary test

Love, the noun is an intense feeling of deep affection

Love, the verb is a deep romantic sexual connection

In all honesty, neither one of those definitions defines me

I am love, the giver, the seeker, the receiver

I am love, I am love’s keeper

I define it through my actions and my words, as if I am a love teacher

I wasn’t always this way, with the mentality that love defines my strength

I was changed, by life’s difficulties

But from those events, I thank

Gratefulness, joy, peace and happiness defines the feelings of love

Now as a person, I choose to live by the fact

That you can grow, with love, even if times are tough.
