I Am Loyalty
I Am...Loyalty
I once was whole...a whole lot more
But I’m not the person I was before
Time was the master, his command was sent
And so the journey began and off I went
I could never imagine how the journey would go
Who it would make me, I couldn’t possibly know
But as I skipped along I knew one thing in me
I would never let go of, for I am Loyalty
The day was sunny the sky was blue
My eyes were bright and then I met you
Dreams came alive and joyful the time
As you held me so close and I called you mine
But your eyes grew so cold and you pulled away
I will never forget the heartache born from that day
Broken promises and empty words tore me apart
I lost a piece of my soul, as you broke my heart
Suffocated, betrayed... drowning in pain
Hated and shunned, my love still remained
I never understood how your lies sounded so true
And though you abandoned me, I still loved you
Slowly you forgot me, a long lost memory
But I will always remember you, for I am Loyalty
Now the sky was darker, a lonesome gray
My pace was slower as I moved through the day
Abandoned and bleeding I sought for shelter, for love
But all along the way, cruel hands pushed and shoved
My love for life, my hopes and dreams
Shattered...broken... My head filled with silent screams
Slowly I faded, a wraith in the dark
A mere piece of who I’d been back at the start
Time had worn me thin, just a shadow remained
Alone and forgotten, nothing could quite quench the pain
But a voice whispered softly‘ you will get through,
But first you must fight the demons deep inside you
This darkness and pain, will help you, you see
To know how to love deeper, and be stronger, Loyalty’
Slowly I got up from this hole in the dark
And looking around I saw a glimmer, a spark
The light drew me in as I set off once more
A piece of the whole I had been long before
The light grew brighter as I pressed ever on
I let go of the pain, and the darkness was gone
I realized I’d been searching in all the wrong places
That approval and love needn’t shine from their faces
Happiness and acceptance, peace in my heart
Must come from within, and not from others remarks
But now I knew that the pain had all played a part
The reason I had spent so many hours in the dark
I had learned many things, which had made me, me
Which had instilled a greater sense of Loyalty
For a sculpture of great beauty sublime
Could never emerge from just the passing of time
But requires the touch of a sculptors hands
And pieces are lost, it requires heavy demands
As the stone is shattered and broken and bruised
No longer a whole, destroyed and abused
But the dawn one day rises and the pain will fade
As we all can see what the sculptor has made
The beauty and detail could have never been found
But for the pain and the loss of the pieces on the ground
Just like the stone we must each loose a part
To become who we are, to strengthen our heart
This journey, though unexpected, has sculpted me
And I will never let go, for I Am Loyalty
