I Am Me

I Am Me

Drowning in a sea of a mindless society,

where peer pressure clouds the minds

of the youth in my community.

Nowhere to turn, except to myself,

because that is the only place to escape adversity.

Alone in a world where individuality no longer exists

is my reality that I try to leave,

but there are no exits.

But, I still believe that this individual can be set free,

because of the simple fact that I Am Me.

Some people may try to change me

to mold me to be like them,

but it cannot be done,

Because Integrity is the land where I am from.

Nowadays it seems that acceptance is the new drug,

people are constantly loosing site of themselves, and for what?

Day after day I find myself battling society,

trying not to get swallowed by people around me.

And yet, I still believe that this individual can be set free,

because of the simple fact that I Am Me.
