I Am Me
I am me and that’s who I will always be
I wonder what the future has in store for me
I hear it shuffling through the pages of its book finding the best possible outcome
I see my faith slowly coming together now, but revealing little of what’s to come
I want to succeed at whatever life throws at me
I am me and that is who I will always be
I sometimes pretend I’m already an adult with a stable life
I feel the pressure of having a job, being a good mom and wife
I hold my children when they fall and encourage them to be tough
I worry that even though I am trying my best, I am still not good enough
I remember the valuable life lessons my parents have taught me
I am me and that is who I will always be
I understand my time has not come yet to be grown up and "free"
I say enjoy your youth days while you still can, do you not agree?
I dream that when my future comes I will be a well thought-of person
I try to do that now so later I will be the same, but just an older version
I hope I can live up to all the potential people seem to see in me
I am me and that’s who I will forever be
