I am Me, best in the Showers of Life
Walking down the street,
Cold, crisp air tugs at my clothes,
threatenening to dislodge my carefully- brushed hair.
Yet, I let it.
The air skates through my roots,
sending a chill down my spine as the sun warms my body.
I glide down a hill, giggling as I break into a brisk pace.
I know that people see me,
questioning why I look so happy, so loose.
Yet, I have never felt more alive.
Taking half an hour to get ready for the day,
it all goes to waste under the brief spill of rain below the sun's watchful eye.
Yet, I do not care.
The water glistens on my legs, wet hair tucks under my arms, and I am bliss.
I do not care that people see a lucid, water-spotted girl laughing for no apparent reason
because,
I am me, and no one can take that away from me.
