I am Me #nofilter
I am Me

I wish I could tell you that this was a poem about a girl who had no worries
Sadly that is not me.
Me...
When asked to define myself
I slip on a mask
I hide the tears.
I try and tell the story of the girl
All smiles and Happiness,
But she isn't me.
I'm the girl in the background,
I'm loud with my friends,
yet quiet with everyone else.
I'm the girl who loves music
All genres,
from Taylor Swift to Evanescence.
I'm the girl who loves writing,
even if my grammar is wrong.
I am Me
There are days when I feel like death
and others when I feel like life.
I'm a girl who loves her Fandoms
Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings.
That's just me
I'm the girl who loves to read Mystery and Fantasy books
The far away lands and law suits in court
They all take me away from the real world.
I'm the girl, who like every other teen can't wait to move out,
but then reality hits
I see the scary world that is waiting for me
Me...
I'm a bundle of stress and tears
Joy and laughter
I'm a loyal friend
A prolific student
A first born daughter
I am Me
Yet my heart trusts much to easily
I'm the girl liable to get hurt
I'm clumsy
I stumble
But i pick myself back up again
because I am Me
I'm the girl who likes to spread herself thin
and still gets everything done
I'm the girl who hides her true feelings
behind a mask
That mask, I perform
I'm the girl who loves to perform on a stage
till its no longer me on that stage
but someone else
I'm the girl with a confused heart
and sometimes confused mind
I am Me
I have trouble defining myself
I don't always like myself
I can't always comprehend the big world that is staring me down
When asked to define myself I try to hide
I find it hard to speak
When asked to define myself
I want to tell a story of a happy girl
But that is not me
When asked to define myself
sometimes I freeze
I don't know what to say
but even when i can't find an answer some days
I will always be me
because
I am Me
