I am Me when I'm Alone
Alone, I am quiet.
Alone, I am myself.
Yet, when I step into the world beyond the walls of my house, I transform into a being that even I fail to recognize.
She is loud. She is amicable. She is the most outgoing version of herself.
She is not me.
I am vulnerable.
Too insecure for my liking.
Too raw for the perception of others.
But the inchoate child who sinks in the warmth of her bed is the girl that I have been for all my life.
Alone, I am not loud.
Alone, I am not comical.
Alone, I am just a reserved child who enjoys the feeling of being alone.
There should be no stigma around this.
Because it was by myself that I discovered that I actually hate the deafening music my friends listen to, the expected shows my friends watch together, the type of guys my friends chase after.
Because it was by myself that I learned who I am and what I believe in. And sometimes, the road travelled alone is actually the path that teaches you the most about yourself.
