I Am A Monument

You tell me You have traveled the world, Fell in love in Paris, And walked the Great Wall. But I am those monuments, The sea you sailed over, The cement of their stone walls. I have touched The lives that have come before me. Felt their pain and suffering And hope. I have felt The depth of our humanity, Listened to the earth's whispers. And I Know. You stare At me and wonder How it is I see all things Yet be so small. I reply I'm vehement and violent And blessed Because I was born With words Inside My Soul.
